About us

Hi, I’m Luke - I'm behind the food at Luca’s Deli.

My food journey began straight out of school, training under legendary New Zealand chef and restaurateur Tony Astle at Antoine’s in Parnell.

After extensively travelling the globe, my wife and I settled on the Mediterranean island of Malta, where we opened Mint - a Kiwi-inspired café. It quickly became a favourite with both locals and visitors, known for its healthy, seasonal, and homemade food that resonated with a wide community.

Now back in Auckland with my family, we’ve launched Luca’s Deli - a fresh start with the same goal: to make food that’s nourishing, full of flavour, and made with care.

Luca’s Deli is built on that passion. We serve the kind of food we love to eat - thoughtfully prepared, satisfying, and honest.

Our philosophy

We believe food should be made with care and intent - using fresh, seasonal ingredients that nourish and satisfy. Everything we create is thoughtfully crafted, with an emphasis on quality, simplicity, and flavour. Our goal is always the same: to make food that feels good to eat and leaves a lasting impression.
